Time: 8am PDT, 11am EDT, 5pm CEST

Speakers:
Tobias Goebel, Sr. Presales Consultant, Voxeo Germany
Dominique Boucher, Product Manager – NuGram, Nu Echo

Abstract: Following up on the introduction of NuGram IDE for grammar engineering and management back in September 2008, this session will provide an update on the latest developments around this grammar tool offering.

We will introduce the new professional edition, explain how it extends the free basic edition, give a demo of the tool and show how it integrates with VoiceObjects Desktop for Eclipse. The basic edition will be bundled with VoiceObjects to have an integrated solution for grammar engineering within the VoiceObjects service creation environment.

The jam session will be closed with a NuGram product roadmap and an outlook for 2009 and 2010.

July 29, 2009 – Load and Regression Testing with VoiceObjects’ LoadTester

Speaker: Dr. Andreas Volmer, Presales Manager EMEA, VoiceObjects Germany GmbH

Abstract: This session will demonstrate the scope and functionality of the LoadTester. We will define test scripts, execute tests and inspect the results, providing you with the information you need to plan and conduct your own load and regression tests.

VoiceObjects Server provides a highly scalable, resilient solution with predictable performance. This is ensured by the VoiceObjects test engineers, through frequent, automated load tests with our LoadTester solution. This LoadTester is now available to everyone using VoiceObjects. It´s a great tool to measure, in the pre-production test environment, performance and scalability and verify resilience of the IVR application software stack including VoiceObjects Server and integrated back-end systems. In particular, the behavior of the back-end systems in load situations is often an unknown that must be verified before deploying a solution to a production system.

The LoadTester works as any standard web load-testing tool: It records sample phone calls, turns them into test scripts, and then loads a VoiceObjects Server cluster with hundreds of virtual callers in parallel. It differs from standard tools in that it is specifically tailored for VoiceObjects and makes it easy to define, execute and analyse load tests. And on top of using it for load testing, it can also be used for functional regression testing, by automatically simulating phone calls or text/web sessions and verifying the response from VoiceObjects Server.

Additional Information:

The LoadTester Archive contains all relevant scripts for the LoadTester tool including Python and all third-party libraries (for Windows only).

The LoadTester Guide gives an overview on the scope and functionality of the LoadTester, including installation instructions, preparation and execution of load tests and results analysis.

June 24, 2009 – Integrating Advanced Call Control in VoiceObjects Applications using CCXML

Speaker: Tobias Goebel, Sr. Presales Consultant, VoiceObjects Germany GmbH

Abstract: This session will give you an overview on implementing call control for VoiceObjects applications.

VoiceXML has rather limited capabilities in the area of call control, basically restricting the scope to blind or bridged tranfers. This Jam session will introduce CCXML and explain how it can interact with VoiceObjects applications to build advanced voice services including both call control and voice automation. Examples include outbound dialing, two-party bridging, call whisper, and multi-party conferences. Demo code will be provided so that participants can test the applications themselves using the free downloads of Voxeo´s Prophecy platform and VoiceObjects phone application server.

May 27, 2009 – Evaluating, Testing, Learning, Presenting VoiceObjects – the Prime Telecom Demo Application for Unified Self-Services

Speaker: Dr. Andreas Volmer, Presales Manager EMEA, VoiceObjects Germany GmbH

Abstract: This session will give you an overview on the Prime Telecom demo application.

When exploring a new development environment such as VoiceObjects Desktop for Eclipse, most developers prefer learning from sample code instead of scanning through 1000+ pages of documentation. Hence, VoiceObjects professional services have built an all-purpose demo application, Prime Telecom, that represents a multi-channel (IVR, mobile web, text) customer self-service portal for a mobile carrier. The features that you can explore in this demo app are, however, cross-industry: GUI and VUI best practices (such as different confirmation strategies or adapt-to-caller techniques) as well as reference solutions for implementing multi-channel, multi-language, personalized, and testable applications.

This webinar will be interesting for

  • anyone who is new to VoiceObjects and is looking for guidance on evaluation,
  • experienced VoiceObjects developers who are interested in recently added product features, and
  • anyone who wants to present VoiceObjects to others.

March 10, 2009 – Template Based Application and Business User Configuration with VoiceObjects

Speaker: Tobias Goebel, Sr. Presales Consultant, VoiceObjects

Abstract: Managed service providers and hosting companies are looking at ways to flexibly provision template-based phone applications scaling to any number of tenants. At the same time they need to keep control of the underlying infrastructure and manage and monitor it efficiently. Furthermore, end customers want to be able to control certain service parameters themselves, such as business hours, agent transfer destination numbers, or playing announcements.

This session will demonstrate an architecture for this scenario which is based on service templates that are configured through a central database.

On the managed service provider side, the proposed architecture encourages a clear separation of tasks for the core service development team, the team configuring template services for clients, and the operations team.

The presentation will also show the flexibility that can be achieved with the services themselves, reaching from turning on or off announcements, menu items, or entire sub-dialogs, to influencing parameters of the voice user interface as well as configuring internal logging parameters.

November 5, 2008 – Natural Dialog Management – Adding NLU and other Advanced Speech Processing Features to Traditional Voice & DTMF Dialogs

Speaker: Tobias Goebel, Sr. Presales Consultant, VoiceObjects

Abstract: Modern voice applications strive for more naturalness and more human-like man-machine interaction. While many simply embed a “How can I help you?” input state into their otherwise traditional dialogs, naturalness can mean much more, also on the side of speech output. This jam session introduces VoiceObjects’ “Natural Dialog Management”, a variety of features in the area of natural language understanding (NLU) and production. In this Jam Session, Tobias will give practical examples into how to enrich an existing voice or DTMF application with features such as implicit confirmation/correction, natural output of dynamic data, or caller-adaptive pronunciation.
